La Prensa LIeBRE Review
A clever collection of Spanish-language puns that starts off with the title, “La prensa liEbre” is a humorous assortment of errors and anglicisms plaguing today’s Spanish. The subtitle “Los crímenes del idioma” (The Crimes of Language) gives an idea of the contents: a trove of absurdities, many of which are just as nonsensical in the original English (are prisoners really “waiting” to be executed, i.e., lining up for their turn to burn?). The chapter on historical translation errors reveals hilarious mistakes in titles of famous works.
